Moving right along

JVM had her SCT (Stem Cell Transplant) last night. The cells from the donor landed at Logan Airport at about 8PM local time. They were sent to the lab and by 12:30AM they were making their way through Mom's veins. Today I visited for a couple of hours. We met with a nutritionist who explained how shop for and prepare food for the next 100 days or so. No restaurants, no takeout, no fresh salads or raw anything. Fortunately there are still some really good foods on her "OK" list so she won't suffer for long!

The last few days have seemed to pass by without much to report. She made it through 4 days of vigorous chemo with flying colors. Today she's starting to feel the effects of all of the chemo. She has what she calls "chemo brain" which I think means a foggy brain that can be hard to focus at times. Today I would describe her as sleepy and queazy but very excited to be getting out of the hospital tomorrow. Joe and I have been preparing for her return, we can't wait to have her home with us for the next couple of weeks. Tom and Ivan will be coming down on Saturday for a visit, she can't wait to see her boys.
